Yankees Win 8-5

As Rivera notched up his 501st save, the Yankees notched up their 6th win in a row.  After losing the first game to Atlanta a week ago, the Yankees seemed to be in a downward tailspin, but they took the last two, swept the Mets, and now look strong against Seattle.  A-rod hit a 2 run HR to put the Yankees up 5-3 but Bruney couldn't hold the lead in the 8th and gave those two runs back.  However, an "old-school" Yankee rally put them back up by three, and Rivera came in to record the final 3 outs; which of course he did.  Melky had three RBIs including the leading one in the btm of the 8th and Jeter drove in two more in that inning.

Joba Chamberlain however did not put up a performance that he needs to do.  He gave up 3 runs in only 5 1/3 and allowed 12 H/BB in the process.  What's more alarming is that again he could not escape the 6th inning and forced the bullpen to get 11 outs.  Coke and Hughes pitched extremely well but Bruney allowed two runs in the 8th and of course Rivera pitched flawlessly.  All-in-all, the bullpen played well, and with Pettite on the mound tonight, should be able to take a break.  Meanwhile, Hughes has proven that he can be the dominate 8th inning man that Bruney used to be and the Yankees have been looking for since Stanton/Nelson left almost a decade ago.  He hasn't allowed a run since he became a permanent relief pitcher, and has not allowed a hit in his last 6 innings.
